Most people in HK are not proud of the British colonial rule. But almost all people in HK are proud of being HKese because HK was a leading economic power in Asia and is still quite important now despite it is only a small city. Also, it is a good time for the leaders of CCP to reflect on their action, trying to understand why some people in HK identify themselves as HKese rather than Chinese. Hint: Maybe because in mainland China, the government promotes "China as a country = CCP" and HKese don't want to be recognized as Chinese for they fear others may see them as the supporter of a single party dictatorship that violently oppress its people?

Lol, but your side just made reference on how rich mainland China is, for example:

The people in HK are not looking down on people from mainland China. They look down on the CCP dictatorship. Some people in HK absolutely love the wealth they can make and want to be a puppet of CCP. But the majority who doesn't get any benefit or are worse of now prefer what they had. The CCP is influencing the politics in HK. In HK, the CCP model of top-down governance is becoming more apparent everyday. A small group of power elite with unlimited rights oppressing a large group of people with very little power. The people in HK they do not like that. Because freedom of speech is not as limited in HK than in China, you see people expressing their discontent in demonstrations.
