if you have private medical insurance, you can ask the doctor. depending on your package, the consultation fee can be reimbursed partly. it is called natural herbalism. I know two Chinese medicine shops around China town. One is Yong Tai in the food court, I often buy the medicine from them. another one is Da Hua, oppisite the Parking on the Gouger St.
The medicine variety varies a bit between different shops and a lot of poisonous medicine is not allowed for sale here. But generally it's OK.
